Description

Cinnamon Toast Crunch Puppy Chow is a sweet and crunchy snack mix made by coating Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal in a smooth blend of melted chocolate, peanut butter, and butter, then dusting it with powdered sugar. This easy-to-make treat is perfect for parties, snacking, or satisfying your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Main Ingredients

  • 12 oz box Cinnamon Toast Crunch (Approximately 8-9 cups)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare Cereal: Pour the Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal into a large mixing bowl to ensure there is enough room for coating later.
  2. Melt Ingredients: In a microwave-safe bowl or medium saucepan, combine the chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
  3. Heat to Smooth Mixture: If using the microwave, heat the mixture for 1 minute, then stir until smooth. Continue microwaving in 15-second increments if necessary, stirring thoroughly after each until completely melted. If on stovetop, heat over medium-low flame and stir frequently until smooth and melted.
  4. Coat Cereal: Pour the melted chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cereal and gently mix until every piece is evenly coated.
  5. Add Powdered Sugar: Transfer the coated cereal to a gallon-sized zip-top bag, add the powdered sugar, seal the bag tightly, and shake vigorously until all the cereal pieces are well coated with powdered sugar.
  6. Cool and Store: Allow the puppy chow to cool completely before storing it in the sealed bag to keep it fresh and crunchy.

Notes

  • Use smooth peanut butter for the best coating consistency.
  • Ensure the chocolate mixture is not too hot when pouring over cereal to avoid sogginess.
  • This snack can be stored at room temperature in an airtight container for up to one week.
  • For a nut-free version, substitute peanut butter with sunflower seed butter.
  • Shaking the mixture in a sealed bag helps evenly coat the cereal with powdered sugar without clumping.
