Description

This Whipped Feta Dip with Spicy Honey is a creamy, tangy, and slightly spicy appetizer perfect for any gathering. Combining feta, ricotta, and sour cream whipped to smooth perfection, topped with a warm honey-garlic-chili drizzle, and finished with aromatic spices and seeds. Serve alongside pita chips, naan, or fresh veggies for a delightful snack or party dip.

Ingredients

Dip Base

  • 7 ounces feta cheese (without brine)
  • 3.5 ounces full-fat ricotta
  • 1.5 ounces full-fat sour cream
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Spicy Honey Drizzle

  • 5 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic clove (grated or pressed)
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp crushed red chili flakes
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste

Toppings and Serving

  • Chopped chives (optional, for topping)
  • 1 tsp za’atar (for topping)
  • 1 tsp black & white sesame seeds (for topping)
  • Pita chips (for serving)
  • Naan (for serving)
  • Raw veggies (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Ingredients: Allow the feta, ricotta, and sour cream to come to room temperature to ensure easier blending and a smoother texture.
  2. Blend the Dip: Add the room temperature feta, ricotta, and sour cream into a food processor. Season with salt and black pepper. Blend on high for about 2 to 3 minutes until the mixture is completely smooth. Taste and adjust salt and pepper as needed.
  3. Make Spicy Honey Drizzle: In a small saucepan, heat olive oil over low heat. Add the grated or pressed garlic and sauté gently until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to burn the garlic. Turn off the heat, then stir in honey, lemon juice, crushed red chili flakes, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to combine.
  4. Serve the Dip: Transfer the whipped feta dip to a serving bowl. Drizzle generously with the warm spicy honey mixture. Sprinkle chopped chives, za’atar, black and white sesame seeds, extra freshly ground black pepper, and additional chili flakes as desired.
  5. Enjoy: Serve immediately with pita chips, naan bread, and raw vegetables for dipping. This dip is perfect for entertaining or as a flavorful snack.

Notes

  • Make sure the cheeses are at room temperature for the smoothest blend.
  • Adjust the amount of crushed chili flakes in the honey drizzle to control spiciness.
  • If you don’t have za’atar, substitute with dried thyme or oregano mixed with sesame seeds.
  • The dip can be made a few hours in advance and refrigerated; bring to room temperature before serving.
  • Use full-fat dairy for the creamiest texture and best flavor.
