Description
This S’mores Rice Krispies Treats recipe is a delightful twist on the classic Rice Krispies treat, combining the gooey richness of marshmallows, the crunch of cereals, and the chocolatey goodness of Hershey bars. Perfect as a dessert or a fun party snack, these treats are easy to make and wonderfully satisfying for any occasion.
Ingredients
Main Ingredients
- 6 Tablespoons salted butter
- 1 (12-ounce) bag jumbo marshmallows
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 2 cups Golden Grahams cereal
- 2 ½ cups mini marshmallows, divided (about ½ of a 10-ounce bag)
- 4 Hershey bars, broken into pieces
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Line a 9×9-inch baking dish with parchment paper or grease it with butter to ensure easy removal of the treats once set.
- Melt the Butter: In a large saucepan over medium heat, melt 6 tablespoons of salted butter until fully liquefied.
- Add Jumbo Marshmallows: Add the entire 12-ounce bag of jumbo marshmallows to the melted butter. Stir continuously over medium heat until the marshmallows melt completely and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
- Incorporate Vanilla: Remove the saucepan from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract evenly into the marshmallow mixture.
- Add Cereals and Mini Marshmallows: Immediately add 4 cups of Rice Krispies, 2 cups of Golden Grahams cereal, and 1 ½ cups of mini marshmallows to the marshmallow mixture. Stir thoroughly until all the cereals and mini marshmallows are evenly coated with the melted marshmallow.
- Assemble First Layer: Transfer half of the coated cereal mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle half of the broken Hershey bars pieces and half of the remaining 1 cup of mini marshmallows evenly over this layer.
- Add Second Layer: Spoon the remaining cereal mixture into the pan over the first layer. Press gently to compact the treats slightly — be careful not to press too hard to avoid dense, hard treats. Top with the remaining Hershey bars and mini marshmallows.
- Cool and Slice: Allow the treats to cool and set completely at room temperature before lifting out of the pan using the parchment paper. Cut into 16 small squares and serve.
Notes
- Do not over-press the cereal mixture in the pan to keep the treats light and chewy.
- Use parchment paper for easy removal and cleaner edges.
- You can substitute Hershey bars with milk or semi-sweet chocolate bars if preferred.
- For an extra toasty marshmallow flavor, briefly toast the mini marshmallows under a broiler for 1-2 minutes if desired, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container to maintain freshness for up to 3 days.
