Description

A savory, hearty quick bread filled with crumbled sausage and melty cheese—ideal for breakfast, snacks, or served with soups and salads. Easy to make and always a hit.


Ingredients

1 lb chicken sausage

¼ cup chopped onion

¼ cup Parmesan cheese, grated

½ cup cheddar cheese, grated

1 egg

½ tsp hot sauce (optional)

1 tsp salt

Dash of red pepper flakes

2 cups baking mix (such as Bisquick)

⅔ cup milk

¼ cup mayonnaise


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a skillet, cook sausage with chopped onion until browned and crumbled; drain and let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together egg, Parmesan, cheddar, hot sauce, salt, and red pepper flakes.
  4. Stir in baking mix, milk, and mayonnaise until combined.
  5. Fold in the cooked sausage and onions.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  7. Bake for 45–50 minutes until golden and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use hot sausage or extra red pepper flakes for a spicier version.

Swap cheddar for Monterey Jack or smoked gouda for a flavor twist.
