Description
A refreshing and vibrant hibiscus tea made by steeping dried hibiscus flowers in cold water, served over ice and garnished with fresh mint and raspberries. This naturally caffeine-free beverage is perfect for a cooling drink any time of day and can be sweetened to taste.
Ingredients
Tea Ingredients
- ¼ cup dried hibiscus flowers
- 4 cups cold filtered water
Serving & Garnish
- Ice (for serving)
- Sweetener of choice (such as sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave), optional
- 1 small bunch fresh mint (for garnish)
- ¼ cup raspberries (for garnish)
Instructions
- Steep the Hibiscus: Place the dried hibiscus flowers in a 1-quart jar or medium pitcher. Add the cold filtered water and stir gently to combine. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator until the liquid turns a bright red color, about 20 minutes. For a more intense flavor and deeper color, chill overnight.
- Strain the Tea: After steeping, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer set over a bowl or pitcher to remove the hibiscus flowers. This will give you a clear, flavorful tea base.
- Serve and Garnish: Fill glasses with ice and pour the strained hibiscus tea over the ice. Sweeten to taste with your choice of sugar, maple syrup, honey, or agave if desired. Garnish each glass with fresh mint leaves and raspberries for a fresh and colorful presentation.
Notes
- You can adjust the steeping time according to your preferred strength; longer steeping results in a more robust flavor.
- Using cold water to steep results in a naturally mellow, slightly tart tea without bitterness.
- To make this tea vegan and low calorie, avoid adding honey or sugar and opt for a zero-calorie sweetener if desired.
- Fresh mint and raspberries add visual appeal and subtle complementary flavors.
- This hibiscus tea is caffeine-free and rich in vitamin C and antioxidants.
