Description

This Perfect Grilled Chicken Breasts recipe features tender and flavorful chicken marinated in Italian dressing, garlic powder, and soy sauce, then grilled to juicy perfection. Ideal for a quick, healthy, and delicious meal, this recipe is perfect for lunches, dinners, or meal prep.

Ingredients

Chicken and Marinade

  • 6 chicken breasts
  • 12 oz Italian dressing
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper

Instructions

  1. Marinate Chicken: Put the chicken breasts in a large zip-top bag and pour in the Italian dressing, garlic powder, and soy sauce. Gently squeeze the air out of the bag and shake it well so all the chicken pieces are fully coated with the marinade. Alternatively, place the chicken in a bowl and fully submerge with marinade.
  2. Refrigerate: Place the bag or bowl in the refrigerator and chill for at least 30 minutes, but up to overnight to develop deep flavors.
  3. Preheat Grill: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Clean the grill grates thoroughly by rubbing half an onion over the hot grates; this not only cleans but also imparts a subtle onion flavor.
  4. Prepare Chicken: Remove the chicken breasts from the marinade, discarding excess marinade. Season each breast evenly with salt and black pepper.
  5. Grill Chicken: Place the chicken on the preheated grill and cook over medium-high heat. Grill for about 15 minutes, turning as needed, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) for safe consumption.
  6. Serve: Enjoy the grilled chicken immediately while hot, or refrigerate leftovers for use in packed lunches or future meals.

Notes

  • Marinating overnight results in more flavorful and tender chicken.
  • Use a meat thermometer to ensure chicken is cooked to the safe internal temperature of 165°F.
  • Rubbing the grill with onion adds a unique flavor and helps prevent sticking.
  • Leftover grilled chicken can be used in salads, sandwiches, or wraps.
  • If you do not have a grill, you can cook the chicken on a grill pan or stovetop skillet.
