Ingredients
Beef Patties
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
- 1/2 cup grated cheddar cheese
Vegetables & Wraps
- 1 head Boston lettuce
- 2 plum tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 small red onion, sliced
- 6 sliced pickles
Special Sauce
- 1/2 cup light mayo (or sour cream)
- 1 tbsp BBQ sauce
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp paprika
Instructions
- Preheat Grill: Preheat your BBQ grill to medium-high heat to ensure it is hot and ready for quick cooking of the thin patties.
- Prepare Special Sauce and Veggies: In a small bowl, combine light mayo (or sour cream), BBQ sauce, garlic powder, and paprika. Mix well and set aside. Also, slice tomatoes, red onion, and pickles for topping and lettuce leaves for wrapping.
- Season and Form Patties: Mix salt and pepper into the ground beef thoroughly to season. Divide the beef into 8 evenly sized portions and shape each into a very thin patty about 1/4 inch thick for quick grilling.
- Grill Patties: Place patties on the hot grill and cook for 1 to 2 minutes on each side, until they are just cooked through. Remove from the grill.
- Add Cheese and Stack: Place grated cheddar cheese on one patty, then stack with another cooked patty on top, followed by more cheese. This creates a double-stacked, cheesy burger layer.
- Assemble Wraps: Lay lettuce leaves on serving plates. Top each leaf with two slices of pickles and two slices of tomato. Add the cheesy beef patties on top, then layer with sliced red onions.
- Drizzle Sauce and Serve: Drizzle the prepared special sauce generously over the assembled wraps. Serve immediately and enjoy your flavorful low-carb burger lettuce wraps!
Notes
- Using very thin patties cooks the burger quickly while keeping it juicy.
- Boston lettuce is preferred for its sturdy leaves that hold the fillings well.
- Light mayo or sour cream can be substituted based on dietary preference for the special sauce.
- Adjust seasoning to taste, especially salt and pepper on the beef.
- These wraps are best served fresh off the grill to enjoy warm, melted cheese.
