Description

These soft and flavorful Garlic Breadsticks are made from a simple homemade dough, brushed with rich garlic butter and parsley. Perfect as an appetizer, snack, or side for pizza, pasta, or soup!

Ingredients

  • 3 ½ cups (17½ oz / 497 g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 ¾ cups (14 fl oz / 420 ml) lukewarm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • ¼ cup (2 oz / 57 g) salted butter, melted
  • 2 large cloves garlic, crushed
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
  2. In the bowl of a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook, combine the flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  3. Add lukewarm water and olive oil. Knead on medium speed for 10 minutes until a soft dough forms.
  4. Transfer dough to a lightly oiled bowl. Turn to coat, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for about 1 ½ hours, or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide it into 14 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a 6-inch (15 cm) log and place on the prepared baking sheet.
  6. Cover loosely with plastic wrap and a kitchen towel. Let rise again for 40 minutes, or until doubled in size.
  7. Meanwhile, prepare the garlic butter by mixing melted butter, crushed garlic, and chopped parsley in a small bowl.
  8. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  9. Once the breadsticks have risen, brush with half of the garlic butter mixture.
  10. Bake for 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
  11. Remove from oven and brush with the remaining garlic butter. Serve warm.
  12. Store any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle grated Parmesan on top before baking.
  • These breadsticks pair perfectly with marinara sauce, soups, or creamy dips.
  • If you don’t have a stand mixer, knead the dough by hand for 12–15 minutes.
  • You can freeze baked breadsticks for up to 2 months—reheat in the oven before serving.
