Description
This easy sautéed cauliflower recipe features tender cauliflower florets pan-cooked with garlic, olive oil, and butter for a flavorful and versatile side dish. Quick to prepare and cook, it offers a perfect balance of crispy and tender textures with a fragrant garlic aroma.
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 head cauliflower (about 4 cups), cut into 1/4-inch thick florets
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- Kosher salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Cauliflower: Break down the cauliflower and cut it into florets approximately 1/4-inch thick to ensure even cooking.
- Heat Oil and Butter: In a large skillet over medium heat, combine the extra virgin olive oil and unsalted butter. Allow the mixture to heat until both are hot and melted.
- Sauté Cauliflower: Add the cauliflower florets to the skillet. Let them sauté undisturbed for a few minutes to develop golden brown edges, stirring occasionally for 5 to 8 minutes until the cauliflower is crisp-tender and nicely browned.
- Steam Cauliflower: Reduce heat to medium-low. Pour in 1/4 cup of water and cover the skillet with a lid. Allow the cauliflower to steam and soften for 3 to 5 minutes. Afterward, remove the lid and continue cooking until the water evaporates completely. (This step is optional if you prefer a crunchier texture.)
- Add Garlic and Season: Stir in the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant. Season with kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper to your taste preference.
- Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Transfer the sautéed cauliflower to a serving dish and enjoy warm as a flavorful side.
Notes
- For a crunchier texture, you can skip the steaming step with water.
- Use fresh garlic for the best flavor; garlic powder can be substituted in a pinch but the taste will be less vibrant.
- Feel free to add fresh herbs such as parsley or thyme for extra aroma and taste.
- If desired, sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese before serving for added richness.
