These Crockpot Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches are spicy, sweet, and full of bold flavor. Made with boneless chicken breasts slow-cooked in honey, spices, and butter, then shredded and served on soft buns with optional pickles — perfect for easy weeknight dinners or game day gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, trimmed of fat
- 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
- 1 cup honey
- 1 tablespoon white vinegar
- ¼ cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
- 8 hamburger buns
- Sliced pickles (optional, for garnish)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Instructions
- Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, whisk together cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic salt.
- Sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the chicken breasts and place them into the bottom of the slow cooker.
- Sprinkle brown sugar over the chicken, then drizzle honey and white vinegar on top.
- Distribute butter pieces over the chicken. Cover with the lid.
- Cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
- Once done, shred the chicken using meat claws or forks and mix it back into the juices in the slow cooker.
- Serve the hot honey chicken on hamburger buns with sliced pickles, if desired.
