Description

These Crockpot Hot Honey Chicken Sandwiches are spicy, sweet, and full of bold flavor. Made with boneless chicken breasts slow-cooked in honey, spices, and butter, then shredded and served on soft buns with optional pickles — perfect for easy weeknight dinners or game day gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic salt
  • 2 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts, trimmed of fat
  • 2 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 8 hamburger buns
  • Sliced pickles (optional, for garnish)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Spray the inside of the slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, and garlic salt.
  3. Sprinkle the spice mix evenly over the chicken breasts and place them into the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Sprinkle brown sugar over the chicken, then drizzle honey and white vinegar on top.
  5. Distribute butter pieces over the chicken. Cover with the lid.
  6. Cook on LOW for 4 hours or HIGH for 2 hours, until the chicken is fully cooked and tender.
  7. Once done, shred the chicken using meat claws or forks and mix it back into the juices in the slow cooker.
  8. Serve the hot honey chicken on hamburger buns with sliced pickles, if desired.

Notes

  • Adjust cayenne pepper to taste for a milder or spicier version.
  • Great for meal prep — leftovers store well in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • Can be served on slider buns or in lettuce wraps for a low-carb option.
