Description

Classic Apple Fritters for Babies are soft, tender, and lightly spiced with cinnamon. Made with grated fresh apple, egg, flour, and a hint of baking powder, these mini fritters are pan-fried to a golden brown, making a perfect, wholesome snack or breakfast for little ones.

Ingredients

Apple Fritter Ingredients

  • 1 medium apple (Honeycrisp or Fuji), yields 1/2 cup grated
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp cinnamon
  • oil or butter, for pan

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apple: Wash and dry the apple thoroughly. Using the largest hole on a grater, grate the apple until you have about 1/2 cup. If there is excess moisture, gently squeeze the grated apple to remove some liquid, ensuring the batter isn’t too wet.
  2. Mix the Batter: In a mixing bowl, combine the grated apple, egg, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and cinnamon. Stir gently until just combined to form a loose batter. Avoid overmixing to keep the fritters light and tender.
  3. Preheat the Pan: Place a frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of oil or butter and allow it to heat until hot but not smoking.
  4. Cook the Fritters: Drop spoonfuls (about one tablespoon each) of the batter onto the pan, gently pressing to shape mini fritters. Cook each fritter for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Repeat Cooking: Continue cooking the remaining batter in batches, adding more oil or butter to the pan as needed. Serve fritters warm for the best taste.

Notes

  • Use sweet apple varieties like Honeycrisp or Fuji for a naturally sweet flavor.
  • Carefully drain excess liquid from grated apple to avoid soggy fritters.
  • Cook fritters over medium heat to ensure they cook through without burning.
  • These fritters are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container for up to 1 day.
  • Optional: For babies, avoid adding sugar or honey to keep it natural and baby-friendly.
