Description
Chocolate Chip Potato Chip Cookies are the ultimate sweet and salty treat! Made with classic chocolate chip cookie dough and crunchy wavy potato chips, these cookies are soft, chewy, and loaded with rich flavor and texture in every bite.
Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 ounces cream cheese, room temperature
- 7 tablespoons unsalted butter, room temperature
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon milk
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 cups slightly crushed wavy potato chips, divided (e.g. Ruffles)
- 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Additional kosher salt or Maldon sea salt for sprinkling
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line one or more baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In a mixing bowl, beat together butter, cream cheese, and sugar until smooth and well combined (about 3 minutes).
- Add vegetable oil, egg, milk, and vanilla extract. Mix until creamy and smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Fold in 1 cup of the crushed potato chips and all the chocolate chips.
- Using a medium (2-tablespoon) cookie scoop or tablespoon, place dough scoops onto the prepared baking sheet about 1 inch apart.
- Bake for 13–15 minutes, or until the edges are just golden.
- Remove from the oven and immediately top each cookie with a few additional crushed potato chips and a light sprinkle of kosher or Maldon salt.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes on the baking sheet before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use thick-cut, sturdy potato chips like Ruffles for the best crunch and texture.
- Maldon sea salt has a stronger flavor than kosher salt, so use sparingly if sprinkling on top.
- These cookies store well in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days.
- For extra indulgence, try mixing in a handful of chopped toffee bits or butterscotch chips.
