Description
Take the classic rice crispy treats up a notch with a delicious caramel twist. These gooey, sweet treats are just as sticky and satisfying as the original, but with a rich caramel flavor!
Ingredients
- 8 tbsp butter
- ¼ tsp salt
- 10 oz package Werther’s soft caramels (see notes)
- 10 oz mini marshmallows
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 14 cups (18 oz box) Rice Krispie cereal (see notes)
Instructions
- Prepare the Pan: Unwrap each caramel and set aside. Spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.
- Melt Butter and Caramel: In a large pot (at least 5-6 qt), heat the butter and salt over medium-low heat. Once the butter starts to melt, add the caramels and stir constantly until melted.
- Add Marshmallows and Condensed Milk: Add the mini marshmallows and sweetened condensed milk to the pot. Stir continuously until everything is melted and smooth.
- Incorporate Rice Krispies: Gradually add in half of the Rice Krispies, stirring to combine. Then, add the remaining Rice Krispies and stir until fully mixed.
- Press the Mixture into the Pan: Spread the mixture into the prepared baking dish and flatten it out evenly. It helps to spray the back of a spatula or wooden spoon to spread out the sticky mixture.
- Cool and Set: Allow the treats to cool and set for at least 15 minutes before cutting.
