A simple, classic dessert made with sweet cinnamon apples and a buttery crumb topping. Serve warm with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce for a cozy treat!
Ingredients
- For the Apple Filling:
- 8 large Granny Smith apples, peeled and sliced ¼-inch thick
- ½ cup granulated sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- For the Topping:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ¾ teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- ⅔ cup melted butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Prepare apples: In a large bowl, toss sliced apples with ½ cup sugar and cinnamon. Taste and add more sugar if apples are very tart. Layer apples into a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Make topping: In a medium bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and eggs until mixture forms coarse crumbs.
- Top the apples with crumb mixture. Drizzle melted butter evenly over the crumb topping.
- Bake for 45–60 minutes, or until topping is golden brown.
- Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- Best served warm with vanilla ice cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce.
- Use a mix of apples for a more complex flavor profile.
- If you prefer a less sweet cobbler, reduce the sugar in the topping to 1½ cups.
- Leftovers can be stored covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
