Description

Air Fryer Salmon Bites with Honey Chili Crunch are crispy on the outside and flaky on the inside, marinated in a flavorful honey chili crunch sauce. This quick and easy American-style bowl recipe features tender salmon cubes cooked in the air fryer paired with a fresh edamame salad, ripe avocado, cilantro, and rice, making it a perfect wholesome meal ready in under 30 minutes.

Ingredients

Salmon

  • 3 tablespoons chili crunch
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 1.5 lbs. raw salmon, deboned and skin removed
  • 1.5 tablespoons avocado oil

Edamame Salad

  • 4 cups shelled, raw edamame
  • 8-10 green onions, sliced diagonally
  • 3 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1.5 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt
  • 3 teaspoons black or white sesame seeds
  • Squeeze of fresh lime juice

Other Ingredients

  • 2 large avocados, cubed or quartered
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • 4 cups cooked white rice
  • Kewpie Mayo for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 400ºF to ensure it’s ready for cooking the salmon bites evenly and quickly.
  2. Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, whisk together chili crunch, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and sea salt until well combined to create a flavorful marinade.
  3. Marinate the Salmon: Cut the raw, skinless, and deboned salmon into 1 to 1.5-inch cubes. Add salmon cubes to the marinade bowl and toss gently to coat all pieces thoroughly.
  4. Prepare the Air Fryer Basket: Lightly oil the bottom of the air fryer basket to prevent sticking. Transfer the marinated salmon cubes into the basket in a single layer without overlapping. If necessary, cook in batches. Drizzle the avocado oil evenly over the salmon.
  5. Cook the Salmon: Air fry the salmon cubes at 400ºF for 6 to 8 minutes, or until the exterior starts to brown and the internal temperature reaches 145ºF according to USDA guidelines, ensuring safe and juicy salmon.
  6. Prepare the Edamame Salad: While the salmon cooks, combine shelled edamame, sliced green onions, sesame oil, rice vinegar, sea salt, sesame seeds, and a squeeze of fresh lime juice in a bowl. Mix well and set aside.
  7. Remove and Rest Salmon: Once cooked, carefully remove the salmon bites from the air fryer and set aside to rest briefly.
  8. Assemble the Bowls: Divide cooked white rice into bowls, top with the air-fried salmon bites, then layer with the edamame salad, cubed avocado, fresh cilantro, and a drizzle of Kewpie mayo. Add extra chili crunch for an added kick if desired.

Notes

  • Cooking time for salmon may vary depending on your air fryer model and size.
  • You can add extra vegetables of your choice to the bowl for added nutrition and variety.
  • Use pre-cooked rice from the store or make a batch ahead of time for convenience on busy nights.
  • Shelled raw edamame is commonly found frozen in grocery stores. Thaw by soaking in cool water to avoid sliminess; avoid warm water for soaking.
