Description

Delicious, golden, and flaky air fryer hand pies filled with your favorite pie filling. Perfect for a quick snack or dessert, these hand pies are crispy on the outside and warm on the inside.

Ingredients

  • For the Hand Pies:
  • 1 (14 oz) package refrigerated pie crust (or double pie crust recipe)
  • 21 ounces pie filling (about 2 cups if using homemade)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • Coarse sugar (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  2. Prepare the Pie Crust: Roll out the refrigerated pie crusts and use a 3½ to 4-inch round biscuit cutter to cut 6 to 7 rounds from the dough.
  3. Fill the Pies: Place a tablespoon of pie filling onto half of the rounds. If using a pie filling with larger pieces, such as apple or peach, chop the filling into smaller pieces first.
  4. Seal the Pies: Run a water-dipped finger or pastry brush around the edge of the filled pie rounds. Place the remaining pie rounds on top and use a fork to seal the edges.
  5. Prepare the Egg Wash: In a small bowl, beat together the egg and water to create an egg wash. Use a pastry brush to coat the tops of the pies with the egg wash, then sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
  6. Cook the Pies: Place the pies in the air fryer and cook for 6 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown.

Notes

  • If you prefer a crispier crust, increase the cooking time by 1-2 minutes, but be sure to monitor closely to avoid burning.
  • These pies are best served fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for 1-2 days.
  • Try using different pie fillings like cherry, blueberry, or even chocolate for a fun twist!
